Operational Workflow & State Machine

End-to-End Pipeline
  1. 01Open single HTML file in any modern web browser — runs instantly offline or online
  2. 02Browse or search across 100 YC model profiles categorized by B2B, Fintech, Logistics, EdTech, and Health
  3. 03Filter by market readiness, regulatory moat, initial capital requirement, or TAM
  4. 04Switch to AI Financial Watchlist to evaluate gross margin, inference compute cost, and ARR multiples
  5. 05Export filtered selections directly to structured CSV for spreadsheet modeling
01

Zero-Dependency Single-File Engineering

Modern web development often introduces heavy build toolchains, megabytes of node_modules, and complex hosting dependencies for what is fundamentally an information-dense interactive tool.

Startup Research Hub was designed as an exercise in architectural austerity: an entirely self-contained 238 KB single-file application uniting semantic HTML5, clean scoped CSS3, reactive vanilla JavaScript, and an embedded relational JSON dataset. It has zero CDN links, zero tracking pixels, and opens instantly in any browser offline.

02

Taxonomy & Research Scope

The tool structures two deep research datasets:

1. 100 Malaysian Startup Opportunities: Each entry pairs a proven Y Combinator archetype with local market dynamics, regulatory conditions, viable monetization models, and structural entry barriers.

2. 50-Company AI Financial Watchlist: Analyzes leading applied AI ventures across funding stage, estimated ARR multiples, inference unit economics, gross margin profiles, and compute infrastructure moats.

03

Interactive Capabilities & In-Memory Pipeline

The client-side engine provides instantaneous multi-column filtering, fuzzy substring matching, and sector grouping without triggering network latency. Filtered views can be exported on the fly to CSV via client-side Blob generation and standard RFC 4180 escaping.

What's live, and what isn't

“It exists in the repository” and “it runs in production” are different claims. This is the difference, stated rather than left to be assumed.

  • ImplementedZero-dependency single-file engine238 KB self-contained artifact running in any modern browser without external assets.
  • Implemented100 YC business model taxonomyFully researched database of localized market blueprints with monetization mechanics.
  • Implemented50-company AI financial watchlistProfiles covering burn rates, capital efficiency, and gross margins.
  • ImplementedClient-side search and multi-filteringInstant zero-latency in-memory query engine.
  • ImplementedDynamic CSV export engineClient-side Blob generation with proper character escaping.

Limitations

  • Maintained as a standalone HTML file rather than a hosted multi-user cloud service.
  • Dataset updates require updating the embedded JSON array within the file.

What's next

  1. 01Publishing online as a static web showcase on rukon.dev
  2. 02Adding interactive TAM calculator for custom unit economic assumptions
